Legislative Advocacy Day
We marched through North Carolina as a part of America's Journey For Justice from August 29th to September 6th. Now we are going to Washington D.C. to participate in the NAACP's Legislative Advocacy Day on September 16th when we will tell our Representatives and Senators that our lives, our votes, our jobs, and our schools matter.
Ride the Bus to DC
You can ride a bus to D.C. with the North Carolina NAACP for $5. For those buses without online payment options, please bring $5 cash or check made out to NC NAACP with you on the 16th. Please arrive 15 minutes early. All buses will return from D.C. on the evening on the 16th. Seats are limited so register today!
The Western NC bus will make 3 stops:

Asheville, NC - Leaving at 12:00 AM on September 16th from the Westgate Regional Shopping Center, Asheville, NC 28806
Hickory, NC - Leaving at 1:30 AM on September 16th

We encourage organizations and faith communities to take your own transportation up to Washington DC to participate in this important day of advocacy. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org and write "Legislative Advocacy Day" in the subject line if you plan on travelling to DC so that we can give you more information about parking and how to participate in meetings with our Congress members.

10:30 AM - Begin Advocacy Visits
Join the Journey For Justice on September 15th
12:15 PM - Marchers and supporters gather on the Virginia side of the Arlington Memorial Bridge (gathering at Memorial Circle, right across the street from the Arlington Cemetery Metro subway entrance).
1:30 PM - America's Journey For Justice begins the final leg of its march across the Arlington Memorial Bridge into Washington DC and the steps of Lincoln Memorial.
2:30 PM - Press Conference to mark the successful completion of America's Journey For Justice on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
7:00 to 9:00 PM - Interfaith Service & Legislative "teach-in" at Washington Hebrew Congregation, 3935 Macomb St. NW Washington, DC 20016 (on the corner of Macomb St. and Massachusetts Ave. NW).
