NC NAACP & Forward Together Movement to Hold Demonstrations at Senators Tillis and Burr's NC Offices to Push for the Confirmation of Loretta Lynch as the Next U.S. Attorney General on Monday, March 30, 2015.
RALEIGH, NC: The NC NAACP and Forward Together Moral Movement are holding demonstrations at Senators Tillis and Burr's North Carolina offices on Monday to reaffirm their request that the senators stop misusing their power and influence and push for a vote in the affirmative for the confirmation of U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch to become the next U.S. Attorney General.
The demonstrations will begin at 3 p.m. at Senator Burr's office in Wilmington and Senator Tillis' offices in Charlotte and Raleigh. At 4 p.m., the demonstrators will hold a news conference in front of each office to discuss why they are continuing to push Senators Tillis and Burr to confirm Loretta Lynch as the next U.S. Attorney General.
Lynch has now waited for more than 130 days to be confirmed. Her confirmation has been held up on the Senate floor longer than the confirmations of the 7 previous U.S. Attorneys General combined. When senators return to Washington following their two-week Easter recess, on April 13th, this hold up will have passed 150 days. Republicans and Democrats alike have voiced their support for Lynch, but so far, both U.S. Senators from Lynch's home state have indicated that they would vote against her confirmation.
